This guide will assist those looking for the band music scores referred to in the books series "Teaching Music through Performance in Band."
Scores are organized by grade level (each with its own tab), and then organized by which volume of the "Teaching Music..." series they are discussed in.
Location: Scores are located in the music stacks, on the east end of the fourth floor of the library.
Call numbers: Band scores are generally classified as "Music M 1245" in Library of Congress classification. For a more specific call number, look up the score by its title or composer, or click on the linked titles of the scores on the other tabs of this guide.
Limiting results to scores: In the online catalog (see box below), you can perform a search, and then limit your results to scores by using the limits on the left side of the screen:
Searching for other band scores: To find other band scores not mentioned in this guide, search the library's online catalog (below) for "band scores" or "band music scores," and then limit your results (as shown above) to "Scores."
You can also use the "virtual browse" feature. Use one of the links on the other tabs in this guide to link to the record for a specific band score, then scroll down until you see the section labeled "Virtual Browse," which shows other items shelved next to that item. Because scores of similar type are shelved together under similar call numbers, you can click on the arrows in the virtual browse to scan through other items shelved in the same area.
